Financial Controller

  • 12 month contract role paying £30 - £35 per hour, paid weekly.
  • Hybrid work options with office base in Northampton (and occasional travel to Farnborough until April 2024).
  • Start available in Jan / Feb 2024.
  • Possible permanent employment opportunity upon completion of a 12-month contract.

Are you a financial controller with decision making confidence that wants to make a big difference, at a big company?

  • Technically, you must operate and have advanced knowledge of SAP, Excel, BI Reporting, and VAT.
  • In your management and leadership style, you must to be approachable and have strong communication skills. You will be part of a 15-strong finance team with 2 direct reports (Senior Payroll and Finance Assistant).
  • You must hold ACCA/ACA or CIMA qualifications.

What are the scope of activities for this Financial Controller function?

· To produce monthly and annual accounts in SAP/BCS in accordance with HQ deadlines.

· Review monthly BCS Monitor for consolidation reporting to HQ and investigate and resolve any issues.

· To ensure that key control accounts are reconciled monthly (including inventory accounts, VAT and other liability accounts).

· To monitor bank accounts and ensure all entries are posted by F-LT.

· To regularly review expenditure in all cost area to ensure adherence to budget. Identify and correct miscodes and identify any required accruals.

· To reconcile VAT monthly, prepare payments and returns monthly/quarterly and any related filings

· Assist with inventory control matters such as inventory levels, obsolescence and PPV variances. Produce PPV variance report each month for review with Production & Logistics Team.

· Monitor monthly support for intercompany recharges and ensure raised correctly by F-LT.

· To ensure all company credit card expenditure is fully supported and recorded in financials.

· Support the Finance Manager NWE to ensure a complete and successful external audits.

· Prepare year end schedules as required by Statutory Auditors and for tax compliance purposes.

· To support Finance Manager in delivering a professional financial service throughout the company. Act as Deputy in FM’s absence for matters including PO/Expense/payroll/ approvals.

· Bank account administration and bank online/BACS payment requests.

· Support SAP testing to ensure the company is protected during upgrades.

· To assist in annual budget process as required by FM.

· Government surveys – ensure completed accurately and on time.

· Look for opportunities for improved processes and controls and be aware of changes eg. changes in HMRC regulations for VAT/payroll.
